Find What You Need: This prayer rug was woven as part of the Vancouver Biennale's Weaving Cultural Identities project. I worked with a graphic designer and another weaver to design and weave the rug. It was inspired by Ajlan Gharem's "Paradise Has Many Gates" sculpture which is installed at Vanier Park in Vancouver until 2020. The symbols and images were chosen intentionally for this piece They are both universal and local. The viewer is invited to find the meaning they need. |
