Rooms with Views
Soon after I first started sketching in 2013 I decided that I would sketch the view from the window of each room that I stay in when I travel. I've been fortunate enough to travel to some pretty incredible (and a few less spectacular) places in that time.
I wasn't very good when I started sketching. Perhaps I'm still not very "good".
But being "good" isn't really the point. When I look at one of my sketches, I remember exactly where I was and what was going on around me when I drew it. It brings back all of the sights, sounds, smells, even the feeling of the air around me, and I get to relive a tiny bit of each trip over and over again. On the other hand, when I look at some of my trip photographs, I have no idea where or why I took the photo. That's why I sketch.
